Government
Girl on the Roof was first certified by the General Services Administration in 2016 and has provided marketing, content development, video production, and graphic design services for the United States Federal Government ever since. We have served the U.S. Department of Education for more than five years, providing strategic consultation, graphic design, copywriting, and editing support for social media campaigns, newsletters, internal and external reports, presentations, animated videos, and more. The State of Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability hired Girl on the Roof to do primary and secondary research to raise awareness around their programs for seniors. The State of North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources hired us to strategize around economic development opportunities in a rural county. We united cross-sector community leaders in Oak Ridge, Tennessee under one vision, and we helped the Town of Farragut attract a younger population. What can we do for you?
Our Approach
When working with government agencies and municipalities, all i’s must be dotted and t’s must be crossed. That means estimates are detailed, contracts are clear, timelines are met, budgets are tracked to the penny, and reporting is timely and transparent.
Fortunately, that’s how we normally operate at Girl on the Roof, which is why our clients are as happy with our customer service as they are with our creative work.
Girl on the Roof is a GSA Contract Holder, making us eligible for federal contracts. We have also been certified as a woman-owned small business (WOSB) and economically disadvantaged woman-owned small business (EDWOSB) by the US Women's Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Association.
Girl on the Roof is also a certified NC Small Business Enterprise (NCSBE).
"We've been working with Girl on the Roof for several years, and they consistently exceed our expectations — always able to deliver high quality, creative, and outstanding results with exceptionally fast turnaround. They are, to the core, great communicators, and always know the right questions to ask and the right considerations to make. Every time I feel that a project will be complicated, they blow me away with how easily they are able to get from our vague and complicated requirements to a great finished product. They've set the bar very high!!"
– Sally Harris, U.S. Department of Education
GRAPHIC DESIGN
From simple to splashy, for digital or print, we create graphics and animations that catch the eye, inform, and motivate. We also design PowerPoint templates and logo packages with usage guidelines to ensure brand integrity and consistency well into the future.

Our Work
MARKETING & PR CONSULTING
-
Girl on the Roof united the City of Oak Ridge around an asset-based branding and marketing strategy.
-
We helped the Town of Farragut identify audiences and growth strategies.
-
We conducted market research to validate communications strategies for the State of Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability.
As a strategic marketing firm, we shine brightly in the areas of marketing strategy, primary and secondary market research, and marketing and communications planning services. The Girl on the Roof team provides value through ideas, not just execution (though we execute really well, too). Through audience segmentation and research, we develop insights and personas that inform the strategies we recommend. Then we develop actionable plans that bring those strategies to life for maximum impact. The result? We help our clients reach the right audiences, at the right time, in the right place, with the right message. How do we know that? Because we track success with meaningful, objective metrics.

"When I led the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, I wanted to nationally brand some of our groundbreaking efforts. Carol and the GOTR team were simply exceptional. They engaged us in a thoughtful process to capture precisely what I wanted. GOTR also demonstrated reasonableness and agility when unexpected complications arose. Without reservation or hesitation, I recommend GOTR for strategic marketing and branding needs."
